Last week, on Monday the 17th of August, we celebrated the official opening of Burnie’s new penguin habitat tunnels! 🎉
Business Northwest is pleased to have supported the Burnie Penguin Observation Centre by funding and installing cameras at each tunnel site and along the perimeter. These cameras will help monitor the penguins’ safety whilst sharing their nightly antics with the world through our livestream channels. Little penguins are a tremendous tourism drawcard for Burnie, and our team was proud to volunteer our time to make this happen.
In partnership with local videographer Mason Doherty, we also produced an online mini-documentary about Burnie’s urban penguins and the volunteer guides at the Burnie Penguin Observation Centre. This video will showcase Burnie’s urban penguins to a global audience and support ongoing funding proposals.
A huge congratulations to UTAS and the dedicated volunteers at the Burnie Penguin Observation Centre. The volunteers’ passion for these wonderful creatures is truly inspiring, and we are pleased to support their ongoing conservation efforts.
