Meet our 2026 UTAS bursary recipient, Rivinu Athukorala

We are pleased to announce that our 2026 bursary recipient is Rivinu Athukorala, a motivated and hardworking graduate of Hellyer College and first-year UTAS student. This year, Rivinu begins a Bachelor of Business in finance and accounting with UTAS.

In 2023, Rivinu and his family moved from Sri Lanka to Burnie after Rivinu’s father was offered a restaurant management job here. Since then, Rivinu has shown academic excellence throughout his education at Burnie High and Hellyer College. After his graduation last year, Rivinu commenced work as a junior accountant with Elphinstone Stevens.

Passionate about his accounting work and the business world, Rivinu hopes to one day open up a business of his own. He is grateful for the bursary as it will lessen some of the financial strain that comes with study.

We look forward to seeing Rivinu excel in his career and wish him all the best with his studies!
