Join us on Wednesday the 30th of July for our breakfast networking session with City Mission’s Burnie depot and business-to-business manager Shane Guy. Shane will provide a detailed overview of Recycle Rewards and what part you can play in protecting our environment whilst helping community groups with valuable fundraising.
Shane Guy was born and raised in Somerset. Driven by a deep compassion for people and a strong desire to make a difference in his community, Shane began volunteering with Vinnies. His commitment to helping individuals achieve their goals made him a valued part of the team. After five years of dedicated volunteer work, Shane transitioned into a paid role within the organisation. Thanks to his attention to detail and strong leadership skills, Shane quickly rose through the ranks to become Regional Manager for Vinnies Community Services. His continued pursuit of meaningful work eventually led him to join a “far better organisation,” in the words of his colleague Scott.
In 2021, Shane joined City Mission, where he initially co-managed a number of Mission retail outlets and oversaw logistics operations across the Northwest Coast. His dedication and strategic mindset saw him transition into his current role as business-to-business manager & manager of the Container Deposit Scheme depot, where he continues to make a positive impact through community engagement and sustainable practices.
City Mission has been providing care and assistance to people experiencing hardship and disadvantage in our local community for more than 170 years. Nowadays, City Mission employs over 200 paid staff and more than 600 volunteers. The organisation offers a variety of services to the community of Northern Tasmania, including family & community support, drug & alcohol recovery, crisis accommodation, food support and health services.
